Dating from 1881, the historic complex built for the Fulton Cotton Spinning Company thrived until the mid-1970s. In 1995, the mill was converted to loft apartments using the federal preservation tax credit and is a superb example of the adaptive reuse of a historic mill complex. On this fascinating tour, you will learn about the Jewish history of the factory, how it gave rise to Cabbagetown and Georgia Tech, and details about the innovating rehabilitation project that helped preserve this incredible landmark. Tour guides Jeremy Katz from the Bremen Jewish Heritage Museum and historian/preservationist Lynn Speno will provide an interest narrative as you explore the complex, and you’ll even be joined by a special guest—loft resident Jake Elsas, a descendant of mill founder, Jacob Elsas.
