After a long, busy day, there's nothing better than a hot, steamy bath — except, of course, a hot, steamy bath taken to the next level with some ultra-relaxing bath salts. Bath salts come with many benefits! They are said to improve cleanliness, soothe sore muscles, soften skin, and enhance the overall enjoyment of bathing.

Whether you’re having trouble finding your normal blend or you’re not just venturing outside your apartment home in Marietta, Georgia as much as you once did, it’s surprisingly easy to prepare your own blend of bath salts from the comfort of your own home. Make them customized to your needs, then scent them with your favorite essential oils and use food coloring to make your salt blend a pretty, soothing color.

Here are the materials you’ll need:

• Bath salt labels
• Container
• Coarse sea salt
• Epsom salts
• Baking soda
• Essential oils
• Food coloring

1. In a large bowl, mix to combine: six parts coarse sea salt and three parts Epsom salts to soothe tired muscles and reduce inflammation. Then, add one part of baking soda to soften waters and alleviate skin irritation.
2. Add a few drops of essential oils and combine.
3. Next, add a few drops of food coloring, until you achieve the desired shade. If you intend to present the bath salts as gifts, be sure to store them in a stoppered and labeled container to keep out moisture.
