Mark your calendars for the 4th Annual Sandy Springs Lantern Parade on Saturday, June 15, 2019. The parade starts at Steel Canyon Golf Club and ends at Morgan Falls Overlook Park.
Chantelle Rytter, the creator of the very successful Beltline, Grant Park, and Decatur Lantern Parades, produces our unique “Take It to the River” Parade. Last year, Chantelle introduced new dragonfly and great blue heron "puppet" lanterns to interact with the audience. They will be back again in 2019, along with the swans, Lilly and Billy, Alice the 25-foot albino alligator, Big Mama Sandy the turtle, and Jeremiah the bullfrog, accompanied by his lilies.
New this year is Sanderson the Flying Pig. Participate in one of the flying pig workshops, and you can march with the Swoop of Pigs leading the parade to Overlook Park. Once the parade reaches the river, paddlers from High Country Outfitters will escort select lanterns to the river for a floating parade. Don't miss this riveting river light display!
Don't have a lantern? Make a lantern at home or take a lantern workshop with Chantelle Rytter. The cost of the workshop will cover all materials, instructions, and tools for attendees to walk away with an illuminated lantern. All workshops are held at Lantern Workshop Headquarters: Sips n Strokes 230 Hammond Dr NE # 402, Atlanta, GA 30328. Registration is now open.
To walk in the parade, please arrive at Steel Canyon Golf Club beginning at 7:30 pm - the parade will step off around 9 pm. Parking is available in the Old World Pay Building, Sandy Springs City Hall, and North Springs United Methodist Church. All parking lots are a short walk to Steel Canyon Golf Club, so wear your walking shoes! Limited shuttle service will be available.
